The MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Wellness Initiative is committed to providing associates with opportunities to improve their overall health and well-being. This program has also enhanced focus on providing excellent care to those we serve, which includes patients, visitors, fellow staff and affiliates. Below are highlights of wellness opportunities offered at MedStar Georgetown.

Wellness Wednesday Walk

Wednesday Wellness Walks

Wednesday Wellness Walks are weekly, outdoor walks – held during the warmer months – led by different members of the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital executive leadership team and enjoyed by many associates throughout the Hospital.

Flights of Fitness

Flights of Fitness

The Flights of Fitness stairwell is painted with an inspirational mural that encourages associates to take the stairs and incorporate more physical activity into their work days.

Lombardi Arts

Lombardi Arts and Humanities

The Lombardi Arts and Humanities program provides associates with opportunities for yoga and meditation. Movement Artists lead individuals in breathing and stretching exercises to help feel refreshed and reinvigorated in the midst of the hectic work day.

The “Freddy and Diana Prince Labyrinth” was built on campus to provide a tranquil space for both patients and associates. The labyrinth is used for meditative walking and is said to help reduce stress and tension. 

Weight Watchers at Work

MedStar Georgetown's Weight Watchers at Work program offers:

  • At-work meetings with private weigh-ins
  • Free access to eTools, Weight Watchers’ weight loss companion
  • Support from an experienced leader who has lost weight with Weight Watchers
  • Lots of inspiration, motivation and group support

Wellness Fair

Hundreds of associates attend the MedStar Georgetown Wellness Fair to participate in health screenings, enjoy tasty and nutritious food and obtain a variety of wellness information.

Passport to Fitness

Passport to Fitness

The Passport to Fitness program provides incentives for associates to travel to various Hospital departments to pick up wellness information, while being physically active as they walk from department to department.

Healthy Cook Off

Healthy Cook-Off

The MedStar Georgetown Healthy Cook-Off encourages associates to submit nutritious recipes and cook their approved dish for a panel of judges. Winners for both “sweet” and “savory” categories receive a prize and recipe cards for all entries are available for associates to take away.

Fitness Discounts

Fitness Club Discounts

Yates Field House is an on-campus fitness club for Georgetown University students, faculty and staff as well as MedStar employees and their families. Memberships are available at a discounted rate.
