Board-certified in gastroenterology, Stanley Benjamin, MD, has been on the medical staff of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine since 1984.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Benjamin was chief, Gastroenterology, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky, and an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Previously, while a member of the United States Navy Medical Corps, Dr. Benjamin was chief of gastroenterology and director of the gastroenterology clinical investigation program at the National Naval Medical Center (now the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center). He also served as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Dr. Benjamin is a well-respected authority in the field, and a reviewer or member of the editorial board of numerous professional publications including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Annals of Internal Medicine, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Archives of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Surgery and others.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Benjamin completed his internship, residency and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the National Naval Medical Center.
