MedStar Georgetown University Hospital was the first hospital in the nation's capital to achieve Magnet® Recognition.
Welcome to Nursing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is where my nursing career began, and I am proud to say that it has remained my professional home for over 25 years. I began my career here during my nursing school days at Georgetown, joining the team as a Nurse Technician. I was inspired by that first experience with this innovative, compassionate care team-- and MedStar Georgetown has continued to inspire me in the years that have followed. I stayed on to become a Clinical Nurse on a medicine unit and then the Director of Nurse Recruitment and Retention. Today, I am honored to serve as Chief Nursing Officer.
As I walk through the halls of this historic hospital, I am astounded by how much has changed over the past forty years. We have developed new, award-winning service lines, renovated countless units, and quadrupled the size of our nursing staff (just since 2000!). We also became the first hospital in Washington, D.C. to achieve Magnet® Recognition, a prestigious status granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. While a lot has changed, one thing remains the same: exceptional nursing is at the core of this hospital.
I am so proud to work among the exceptional nurses at MedStar Georgetown. They are deeply committed to their patients, tirelessly focused on quality and safety, collaborative with their interdisciplinary clinical partners, and devoted to advancing the field of nursing. As Chief Nursing Officer, it is my honor to provide our nurses with professional development opportunities, resources to promote our innovative practice environment, and transparent leadership as we work towards our shared vision for the future.
To the nurses of MedStar Georgetown, my sincerest thanks for all that you do! You are my teachers, counselors, heroes, and friends. You inspire me each and every day.
