A Letter from Our President

Dear Neighbor:

I am pleased to announce our hospital’s formation of a Patient and Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety (PFACQS).  As a major provider of health care, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital has greatly appreciated its relationship with surrounding communities for generations.  We value this relationship and truly believe that creating this council with a shared vision will help to build a stronger and healthier community.  The PFACQS is part of the MedStar Health Institute for Quality and Safety, which leads quality and safety initiatives across all MedStar entities. We are committed to providing quality health care to you and your family.

Our goal is to create a council that embodies partnership and communication. The council will reflect the diverse communities that we serve – diversity in terms of income level, racial and ethnic makeup, health status, and religion, to name a few. The council will be composed of patients, family members and/or friends of patients, community leaders, and health care professionals. The MedStar Georgetown University Hospital PFACQS will focus on inpatient hospital care and will make informed decisions about how hospital programs deliver care and provide services.

Please take a moment to read the enclosed material, which includes a brief questionnaire and requirements of the council. We encourage you to consider submitting an application and joining us on this collaborative journey to better serve the community.  Once the council is formed, the group will meet once per month for 2-3 hours in the evening. Dinner will be served.

If you have questions, please call the MedStar Health PFACQS hotline at (855) 248-8800 or visit our website at MedStarHealth.org/PFACQS. If you would like to apply to the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital PFACQS, you can do so online or complete and mail the application included in this packet. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference in your community.
