About the Provider

Nassim Zecavati, MD, MPH is board certified in Epilepsy and Neurology with special qualification in child neurology. She sees young patients for all types of neurological conditions, with a special interest in movement disorders, epilepsy and neurogenetics. Along with the team of MedStar Health pediatric neurologists, she is dedicated to being accessible and meeting the needs of her patients, including 24/7 call coverage.

Dr. Zecavati is very active in research and has published a number of articles on studies regarding childhood stroke, rhabdomyolysis and neurometabolic disorders. She is currently enrolling patients in studies on childhood stroke and the neurological effects of bowel transplant.

In addition to her medical education, residency and fellowship, Dr. Zecavati completed an additional fellowship in public policy, working for a year in the U.S. Senate on Capitol Hill. She is involved in issues that affect children with neurological conditions, serving on advocacy committees for both the Child Neurology Society and the American Academy of Neurology. Based on her understanding of how public policy shapes the delivery and quality of medical care, she is sometimes called on to testify before Congressional committees and share her expertise. She has also published a highly regarded paper on how neurology residents can advocate for effective public policies that benefit patients.

Beyond her roles as physician, researcher and public policy advocate, Dr. Zecavati is the mother of three young children. Being a mom has given her a new level of investment and understanding with the families she sees.
