The Surgery Resident Education Fund
This past summer, the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center Surgical Residency Programs were merged to become a newly accredited surgical resident program residencies.
Among our graduates of both programs are highly sought-after leaders in academic surgery, including past presidents of many prestigious societies such as the American College of Surgeons.
The new program provides opportunities to train residents interested in academic and clinical careers and regularly match our graduates into fellowships in pediatrics, surgical oncology, cardiothoracic, transplant, trauma/critical care, colorectal and others.
Residents are exposed to a wider range of opportunities based on the larger patient population and expanded service lines. The increase in opportunities for our residents necessitates that we increase the financial resources to continue to enhance the educational programs for our surgical residents.
We invite you to consider directing your philanthropic support to the Surgery Residency Education Fund. Your philanthropic investment will support this very worthwhile program, allowing us to remain at the forefront of surgery residency education. On behalf of the current residents and faculty of the Department of Surgery at MedStar Georgetown and MedStar Washington Hospital Center, we thank you for your partnership.
