About the Provider

Robert Warren, MD, is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He came to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 1995 and is a member of the Lombardi Center at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Warren developed an interest in breast cancer while completing his oncology training at the National Cancer Institute. Breast cancer and women at higher risk for developing the disease have been his focus ever since. Whether he's caring for a patient with breast cancer, an individual at risk for the disease or a medical oncology patient, his approach to care relies on patient involvement and education. He partners with patients and their families to share decision making about treatment.

Although Dr. Warren's primary focus is patient care, he also participates in clinical trials that study ways to prevent, treat and cure breast cancer. He has participated in two international studies focused on prevention involving women at higher risk for breast cancer.

Dr. Warren, who also holds an MBA, serves on MedStar Georgetown's medical executive committee. As a clinical professor of internal medicine and a mentor for first- and second-year medical students, he also helps train the next generation of physicians.
