Since 1983, John J. Pahira, MD, has been director of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Center for Kidney Stone Disease and Lithotripsy Unit, the regional center for both the surgical and medical management of recurrent and complex kidney stone disease. Concurrently, he is a professor in the Department of Urology at the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Pahira is the author of, or contributor to, numerous text books and chapters, as well as research publications. He has been a guest lecturer at many medical schools and hospitals, and presented at international, national and regional professional meetings. In the course of his career, Dr. Pahira has sat on the editorial boards of many peer-reviewed publications, including a long-standing association with both the Journal of Urology and International Urology and Nephrology.
Dr. Pahira has been named a "Top Doctor" by Washingtonian magazine for multiple years, including 2014, 2015 and 2016.
