MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute First Annual LIVER LIFE WALK D.C.®

More than 300 participants walked in the 2017 Liver Life Walk DC on May 20 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., helping raise awareness about liver disease. This year, the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute partnered with the American Liver Foundation for this community event, bringing awareness specifically to the D.C. Metropolitan area. 37 teams took part, with over $30,000 raised to benefit research and curative services for liver disease. Thank you all who supported the 2017 Liver Life Walk DC!

Join Us next year for LIVER LIFE WALK Washington, D.C. to Raise Funds to End Liver Disease

This walk was created in conjunction with the American Liver Foundation and the money raised will go towards continued research of all liver disease.

Walk for Fun…Walk for Life!

It’s not just a motto; it’s exactly what you’ll be doing when you participate in the Liver Life Walk. The Liver Life Walk is the largest event organized by the American Liver Foundation, reaching an audience of more than 1,400 supporters in the Mid-Atlantic Division. We at MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute have been fortunate enough to partner with the American Liver Foundation this year to bring awareness to the D.C. Metropolitan area.

The Liver Life Walk aims to break barriers of stigma and to further educate the public on liver health. It brings together those with liver disease in an inviting and fun atmosphere. There is no registration fee, teams sign up to recruit participants and raise funds/awareness for the fight against liver disease.

Whether you have been directly affected by liver disease or find interest in learning about liver health, the Liver Life Walk is for you. This event will unite families and friends, patients and providers, corporations and the community in the fight against liver disease.

Please contact Chloe Shreve and Andrea Keller at [email protected] with any questions.

The walk maybe over but the research continues.

Liver Screening

Early detection of liver disease is important since significant damage may occur with few or no symptoms. Our program provides free liver screening for hepatitis Bhepatitis C and ALT levels (liver function).
