Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Classes and Orientation Sessions

ATTENDANCE:  MBSR is an experiential program.  Attendance at all classes is essential for you to benefit fully from the class.  If you know ahead of time that you will need to miss more than ONE of the class dates or the retreat, please plan to attend a subsequent course.

Introduction to Mindfulness/Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Orientation Sessions

These orientation sessions (2 hours free of charge) are an experiential introduction to mindfulness, and at the same time, provide a detailed overview of the course.  They are designed equally for those who are curious about Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and seek information to help them decide, as well as for those who already are certain that they want to enroll, as an introduction and orientation. All sessions are held at 2115 Wisconsin Ave NW on the 1st floor conference room immediately to the left as you enter the building.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Class Sessions

Monday Evenings: led by Dr. Paul Jones

  • Dates: September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4
  • Times: 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.: except the first and last class is 3 hours (6 – 9 p.m.)
  • All Day Retreat: Sunday, October 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Wednesday Mornings: led by Dr. Mary Ann Dutton

  • Dates: Sept 11, 18, 25, Oct 2, (skip Oct. 9), 16, 23, 30, Nov 6
  • Times: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. : except the first and last class is 3 hours 
  • All Day Retreat: Sunday, October 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Monday Mornings:

  • Dates:Oct 21 and 28; Nov 4, 11, 18, and 25; Dec 2 and 9
  • Times: 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.: except the first and last class is 3 hours
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tuesday Evenings:

  • Dates: October 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, 26, December 3, 10
  • Times: 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.: except the first and last class is 3 hours (6 – 9 p.m.)
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

How to Enroll in MedStar Georgetown MBSR Program

There are four steps to enroll in the MBSR class at MedStar Georgetown: 

  1. Register by completing the online registration form
  2. Attend an orientation session 
  3. Brief individual interview with a course instructor
  4. Payment 
    Please be prepared to pay $550 by check at the interview following the orientation or after the interview. You may mail the check to:

After completing the four steps listed above, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment in your chosen class. Enrollment capacity is 25 students for evening courses, and 11 students for morning classes. If the course you are interested in is full, you will have an opportunity to be placed on a wait list for that course, register for a different course, or ask to be notified when new course dates are announced.
