Online Classes and Orientation Sessions

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE!

Medstar Georgetown’s MBSR orientations and courses are now being offered online, due to COVID-19.  Our next 8-week courses start on May 6 (Wednesdays at 6 pm) and May 7 (Thursdays at 9 am) – see below.  To enroll in either, you must attend an online orientation, as follows:

ONLINE MBSR ORIENTATION SESSIONS: 

These free, 90 minute introductory sessions are designed equally for those who know that they want to take the course, as well as those who have not yet decided and want to learn more.

The only technical requirement is a computer, smart phone, or tablet with a working camera and internet access.   Please arrange to login 10 minutes before the posted start time.  Upcoming orientations will be as follows:

April 2020 

  • April 22 at 7 p.m.  (log in by 6:50 pm)
  • April 23 at 9 a.m.  (log in by 8:50 am)
  • April 29 at 7 p.m.  (log in by 6:50 pm)

May 2020

  • May 4 at 7 p.m.  (log in by 6:50 pm)

June 2020

  • June 1 at 9 a.m.
  • June 1 at 7 p.m.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Class Sessions

Wednesday evenings

  • Dates: May 6, 13, 20, 27; June 3, 10, 17, 24
  • Times: 6 - 8:30 p.m.: except the first and last class. First is 3 hours (6 - 9 p.m.) and last is 3.5 hours (6 - 9:30 pm.)
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Thursday mornings

  • Dates: May 7, 14, 21, 28; June 4, 11, 18, 25
  • Times: 9 - 11:30 a.m.: except the first and last class. First is 3 (9 a.m. - noon) and last is 3.5 hours (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Monday evenings

  • Dates: June 15, 22, 29; July 6, 13, 20, 27; Aug. 3
  • Times: 6 - 8:30 p.m.: except the first and last class. First is 3 hours (6 - 9 p.m.) and last is 3.5 hours (6 - 9:30 pm.)
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tuesday mornings

  • Dates: June 16, 23, 30; July 7, 14, 21, 28; Aug. 4
  • Times: 9 - 11:30 a.m.: except the first and last class. First is 3 (9 a.m. - noon) and last is 3.5 hours (9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
  • All Day Retreat: Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

DECIDING WHICH SESSION TO TAKE.  Because MBSR is entirely experiential,  participation in all classes is key to benefitting fully.  If you know now that you will need to miss more than one class or the retreat for a given session, please elect to attend a different session. 

How to Enroll in MedStar Georgetown MBSR Program

There are four steps to enroll in the MBSR class at MedStar Georgetown: 

  1. Register by completing the online registration form
  2. Attend an orientation session online at https://zoom.us/j/473709751
  3. Brief individual check-in with a course instructor (at the orientation)
  4. Payment 
    Please be prepared to pay $550 by check at the interview following the orientation or after the interview. You may mail the check to:

After completing the four steps listed above, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment in your chosen class. Enrollment capacity is 25 students for evening courses, and 11 students for morning classes. If the course you are interested in is full, you will have an opportunity to be placed on a wait list for that course, register for a different course, or ask to be notified when new course dates are announced.
